BiteVote Moderation Policy

What this policy covers

BiteVote lets group members create group names, member display names, saved restaurants, saved dishes, notes, votes, reports, photos, and other group content. Members may also choose to share a restaurant photo with the wider BiteVote community. Only you can make that choice, and you must own the photo you share. Community photos must be your own photos of food or a food venue and must not contain people.

Content that is not allowed

You are responsible for the content you submit. You may not submit content that is objectionable, abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, graphic, violent, exploitative, spam, impersonation, privacy-invading, illegal, or otherwise harmful to other people or to the service.

How moderation works

BiteVote screens submitted content with automated text and image moderation plus an in-app submission filter for common objectionable terms and patterns.

Community photos pass a stricter automated pipeline before anyone else can see them. Metadata, including location, is stripped and the image is re-encoded. Photos containing any detectable face are refused; the image must clearly show food or a food venue; unsafe or heavily text-bearing images are refused; and two independent moderation services must both pass the image.

Photos the pipeline refuses are either discarded or held privately for human review for up to 30 days, then deleted. ProspectOre LLC can remove any published community photo and block repeat abusers from contributing. You can remove a community photo you shared at any time from Settings > Community photos.

Community photos are shared under a perpetual anonymous license. Deleting your account permanently severs the link between you and your shared photos, and the photos remain published unless you removed them first.

Reports and enforcement

Automated moderation is not a substitute for human judgment. Group members can report content or members from inside the app, and group owners can block abusive signed-in members from rejoining the group. Blocking a member may also block the device they joined from, so removing and blocking a member can prevent that device from rejoining the same group even with a new account.

ProspectOre LLC will review user reports and moderation escalations within 24 hours. We may remove content, restrict access, block accounts or devices from groups, or take other action needed to protect users, comply with law, or operate the service.

Apple terms

On Apple platforms, the BiteVote app also uses Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. On Android, download and use through Google Play are also subject to the applicable Google Play terms and policies.
